Possible Causes
Open thermal protector on motor, Failed drive motor, Loose motor connector, Faulty motor relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before accessing the motor.
- Check drum movement: Rotate the drum by hand. If it moves freely, the motor is not being driven.
- Access motor: Remove panels to reach the drive motor. Check that the motor plug is firmly connected.
- Test motor windings: Use a multimeter to measure resistance across motor windings. Compare to specifications. Replace the motor if open or shorted.
- Check motor thermal protector: Some motors have an internal thermal cutout. If it is open and does not reset, the motor must be replaced.
- Control relay: If the motor tests good, the control board's motor relay may be defective and require board replacement.
