Dryer will not start; display shows E01 shortly after pressing Start.

Safety first: Unplug the dryer or switch off the circuit breaker before any disassembly.

E01 on many Gaggenau dryers indicates the control does not see the door as properly closed.

• Check the door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Make sure no laundry is trapped in the door seal and that the latch engages with a clear click.
• Inspect the door latch and strike: Look at the metal or plastic strike on the cabinet and the latch on the door. If bent, cracked, or loose, tighten screws. Replace the latch or strike if damaged.
• Test the door switch: With power disconnected, remove the top or front panel (depending on model) to access the door switch. Disconnect the switch connector and test continuity with a multimeter while pressing the switch. If it does not change state (open/close), replace the door switch.
• Check wiring harness: Inspect the wiring from the door switch to the main control module for loose plugs, corrosion, or damaged insulation. Reseat connectors firmly.
• Reset power: After checks, restore power and try again. If E01 persists with a known-good switch and wiring, the main control board may be faulty and should be diagnosed by a technician.
