Possible Causes
Defective drive motor, Failed motor relay on control board, Broken or jammed drive belt, Seized drum support roller
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing any panels.
- Listen for motor attempt: Start a cycle and listen. A humming sound without drum movement suggests a jammed drum or weak motor.
- Check drum movement: With power off, open the door and rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly. If it is very stiff or grinding, inspect the belt, idler pulley, and drum rollers.
- Inspect the drive belt: Remove the top and front panel to access the drum. If the belt is broken or off the pulley, replace it and ensure it is correctly routed around the motor pulley and idler.
- Check motor connections: Verify the motor plug is fully seated and wiring is intact. Look for signs of overheating or burning on the motor terminals.
- Test motor windings: With a multimeter, check motor winding resistance against service specs. If open or shorted, replace the drive motor.
- Control board relay: If the motor and belt system are good but E02 persists, the motor relay on the main control may be defective. Board-level repair is complex; consider a qualified technician or replacing the control module.
