Possible Causes
Broken drive belt, Belt slipped off idler pulley, Worn idler pulley, Drum binding causing belt failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer.
Step-by-step checks:
- Check drum movement: Open the door and try to spin the drum by hand. If it spins very freely with little resistance, the belt is likely broken.
- Access belt: Remove the top panel and front panel to inspect the belt around the drum. If broken or off the pulleys, remove all belt pieces.
- Inspect rollers and idler: Spin the drum rollers and idler pulley by hand. Replace any that are noisy or seized.
- Install new belt: Route the new OEM belt around the drum, motor pulley, and idler pulley according to the diagram. Ensure proper tension and alignment.
Tip: Replacing the belt is a good time to vacuum lint from the cabinet interior.
