Possible Causes
Clogged lint filter or exhaust vent, Crushed vent hose, Dirty moisture sensor bars, Weak heating element or low gas supply
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before disconnecting the vent.
Step-by-step checks:
- Lint and vent: Clean the lint filter and inspect the vent hose for kinks or crushing. Disconnect the hose and check for lint buildup all the way to the exterior hood.
- Exterior hood: Ensure the outside vent hood flap opens fully and is not blocked by lint, nests, or debris.
- Moisture sensors: Clean the moisture sensor bars inside the drum with rubbing alcohol to remove dryer sheet residue.
- Test with vent disconnected: Run a timed dry cycle with the vent hose temporarily disconnected. If drying improves, the vent system is restricted and must be cleaned or shortened.
Note: Long or complex vent runs significantly reduce drying efficiency; consult venting guidelines if needed.
