Possible Causes
Dirty or coated moisture sensor bars, Broken moisture sensor wire, Loose connector at sensor harness, Failed main control board sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before accessing internal wiring.
Step-by-step checks:
- Clean sensor bars: Inside the drum, locate the two metal moisture sensor bars (usually near the lint filter housing). Clean them thoroughly with rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth to remove dryer sheet residue.
- Inspect wiring: Access the area behind the sensor bars (often by removing the front panel or lower access panel). Check the small wires connected to the bars for breaks or loose connections.
- Continuity test: With the dryer unplugged, test continuity from each sensor bar terminal to the harness connector. Repair or replace any broken wires.
- Control board: If the bars are clean and wiring is intact, the main control board may not be reading the sensor circuit correctly and may require replacement.
Note: Dirty moisture sensors can also cause clothes to remain damp without showing an error; regular cleaning is recommended.
