Possible Causes
Failing gas valve solenoid coils, Overheating coils due to restricted airflow, Intermittent flame sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and shut off gas before disassembly.
Step-by-step checks:
- Observe operation: With panels in place but accessible, run the dryer and watch the burner through the view port. If the igniter glows and flame lights once or twice, then stops lighting while the igniter still glows, suspect gas valve coils.
- Access coils: Remove the front panel to access the gas valve assembly. The coils are small cylinders mounted on top of the gas valve.
- Replace coils: Remove the mounting bracket and replace both coils as a set with OEM parts. Reinstall the bracket and reconnect wires.
- Check airflow: Clean lint and verify venting to prevent overheating of new coils.
Note: Coils often fail intermittently when hot; replacement is the standard fix.
