Possible Causes
Failed drive motor, Stuck or open motor relay on main control board, Broken belt triggering belt switch (if equipped), Damaged motor wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer or turn off the breaker. Gas dryers: shut off gas supply.
Check drum movement and belt:
- Try to rotate the drum by hand from inside. It should turn with moderate resistance. If seized, inspect for jammed objects or failed drum bearings.
- Remove the front panel or lower access panel to inspect the drive belt. If the belt is broken or off the motor pulley, replace the belt and check the idler pulley.
Check motor and relay:
- With panels removed, locate the drive motor and its wiring harness.
- Inspect for burnt smell, discoloration, or melted insulation.
- Test the motor windings for continuity according to the tech sheet. Replace the motor if windings are open or shorted.
- If the motor and belt are good, the motor relay on the main control board may be defective; replace the main control board.
