Possible Causes
Seized drum rollers, Worn drum glides, Foreign object jamming drum, Weak or failing drive motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and, for gas models, shut off gas.
Check for drum obstruction:
- Open the door and try to rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly.
- If stiff or grinding, remove the front panel to inspect the drum support rollers, front glides, and felt seals.
- Remove any foreign objects (coins, screws, clothing) caught between drum and front or rear bulkhead.
Inspect support components:
- Spin each drum roller by hand; replace any that are noisy, flat-spotted, or seized.
- Inspect front drum glides and felt; replace if worn through or missing.
- Check the idler pulley for smooth rotation; replace if noisy or seized.
- If the drum turns freely but E16 persists, test and replace the drive motor.
