GE dryer shows E28 and may not start or may shut off when the door is opened/closed.

Safety first: Disconnect power before servicing.

Verify door switch function:

• Open and close the door while listening for a distinct click from the switch.
• Remove the front or top panel to access the switch.
• Test the switch with a multimeter for proper open/closed operation.
• Inspect and reseat the wiring harness at the switch and main control board.
• Replace the door switch if intermittent or out of spec.

If the switch and wiring are good but E28 persists, the main control board may need replacement.
