GE dryer shows E7 and may not start or may shut off unexpectedly.

Safety first: Disconnect power before working on the door or control area.

Check door switch operation:

• Open the dryer door and locate the door switch (usually near the door opening with a small plunger or lever).
• Press the switch by hand; you should hear a distinct click. If no click or it feels loose, the switch may be bad.
• Remove the top panel or front panel (depending on model) to access the switch.
• Disconnect the switch wires and test for continuity with a multimeter. The switch should show continuity when pressed and open when released.
• Replace the door switch if it fails the test or is physically damaged.
• Inspect the door latch and strike; ensure the door closes firmly and fully engages the switch. Adjust or replace latch components if needed.
• Reassemble, restore power, and test by starting a cycle with the door closed.
