Possible Causes
Failed door switch, Misaligned door latch, Broken door switch actuator, Damaged door switch wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working on the door or control area.
Check door switch operation:
- Open the dryer door and locate the door switch (usually near the door opening with a small plunger or lever).
- Press the switch by hand; you should hear a distinct click. If no click or it feels loose, the switch may be bad.
- Remove the top panel or front panel (depending on model) to access the switch.
- Disconnect the switch wires and test for continuity with a multimeter. The switch should show continuity when pressed and open when released.
- Replace the door switch if it fails the test or is physically damaged.
- Inspect the door latch and strike; ensure the door closes firmly and fully engages the switch. Adjust or replace latch components if needed.
- Reassemble, restore power, and test by starting a cycle with the door closed.
