Possible Causes

Failed heater relay on main control board, Open heating element (electric models), Shorted heater wiring, Faulty gas valve coil (gas models)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer or turn off the breaker. For gas dryers, shut off gas supply.

Check heating circuit:

  • For electric models: Access the heater housing from the rear. Disconnect the heating element leads and test the element for continuity. Replace the heating element if open.
  • Inspect high-limit thermostat and thermal cutoff on the heater housing; test for continuity and replace any open devices.
  • For gas models: Access the burner assembly. Inspect and test the gas valve coils for proper resistance (refer to tech sheet). Replace coils if out of spec.
  • Inspect wiring from the heater or burner assembly back to the main control board for burns, shorts, or loose connections.
  • If all components test good, the heater relay on the main control board may be stuck or open; replace the main control board.

Note: If you smell gas or are not comfortable working with gas components, contact a qualified technician.
