Possible Causes

Worn drum glides, Dry or failing drum rollers, Seized idler pulley, Drum rubbing on cabinet due to worn felt seals

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and gas (if applicable).

Inspect moving parts:

  • Remove the front panel to access the drum front support and belt.
  • Inspect front drum glides and felt; replace if worn through, cracked, or missing.
  • Remove the drum to access rear drum rollers and idler pulley.
  • Spin each roller and the idler pulley by hand; replace any that squeal, wobble, or do not spin freely.
  • Vacuum lint from all moving parts and apply a small amount of high-temperature lubricant only where specified by GE (many rollers are self-lubricating and should not be oiled).

Reassemble and test; noise should be significantly reduced or eliminated.
