How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and shut off gas (if applicable).
Check for overheating causes:
- Clean the lint filter and entire vent system thoroughly.
- Remove the front or rear panel and vacuum lint from around the motor, blower housing, and internal ducts.
- Spin the blower wheel by hand; ensure it is not rubbing or obstructed.
Check motor:
- Run the dryer with no load and listen for motor noise or slowing.
- If the motor becomes very hot quickly or stops and restarts after cooling, the motor is likely failing and should be replaced.
