GE gas dryer runs but does not heat. Igniter may glow briefly or not at all; clothes stay cold.

Safety first: Unplug the dryer and shut off the gas supply. If you smell strong gas, ventilate the area and contact a professional immediately.

Visual check of ignition:

• Remove the lower front access panel (if present).
• Restore power and gas, start a heat cycle, and observe the burner area.
• If the igniter does not glow at all, test the igniter for continuity and replace if open.
• If the igniter glows but the burner never lights, suspect weak gas valve coils or a faulty flame sensor.

Component checks (with power off again):

• Test the flame sensor for continuity when cool; replace if open.
• Replace the gas valve coils as a set if they test out of spec or if the burner lights once then stops on subsequent cycles.
• Ensure the gas shutoff valve is fully open and the flex line is not kinked.
