Possible Causes
Disconnected motor wiring, Failed motor, Faulty motor relay on PCB, Open thermal protector on motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before accessing the motor or control board.
- Check drum by hand: Rotate the drum manually to ensure it is not mechanically jammed.
- Inspect motor wiring: Access the motor and check that all connectors are firmly attached and wires are intact.
- Test motor windings: Use a multimeter to measure resistance across the motor windings. Replace the motor if windings are open or shorted.
- Check motor thermal protector: Some motors have an internal thermal cut-out. If accessible and open, allow the motor to cool and test again. Replace the motor if the protector does not reset.
- PCB relay: If the motor and wiring are good, the motor relay on the PCB may be faulty and should be replaced by a technician.
