Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drive belt, Seized drum support rollers, Faulty motor start capacitor, Worn motor bearings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the dryer from mains before removing panels or touching the drum and motor.
- Check drum rotation: With the door open and power off, try to rotate the drum by hand. If it spins very freely with little resistance, the belt may be broken. If it is very stiff, the drum bearings or rollers may be seized.
- Inspect belt: Remove the top and rear (or side) panels to view the belt. If broken or off the pulley, replace it with a compatible Grundig dryer belt and route it correctly around the motor and idler pulley.
- Check rollers and idler: Spin the drum support rollers and idler pulley by hand. Replace any that are noisy, rough, or seized.
- Test motor capacitor: Locate the motor start capacitor. Discharge it safely, then test with a capacitance meter. Replace if out of spec.
- Reassemble and test: Refit panels, reconnect power, and run a short cycle to confirm the drum now turns normally.
