Possible Causes

Failed drum drive motor, Worn or broken drive belt, Faulty motor capacitor, Motor wiring harness fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the dryer from the mains before removing the top or side panels. Sharp edges may be present.

  • Check drum movement: With the dryer unplugged, open the door and try to rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly with some resistance. If it is jammed, inspect for foreign objects between drum and cabinet.
  • Inspect the drive belt: Remove the top panel and, if needed, the rear panel to view the belt around the drum and motor pulley. If the belt is snapped, frayed, or off the pulley, replace it with a compatible Grundig dryer belt and refit correctly around the motor and idler pulley.
  • Check motor capacitor: Locate the motor start/run capacitor near the motor. Look for bulging, leaking, or burnt smell. Discharge the capacitor safely, then test with a capacitance meter. Replace if out of specification.
  • Inspect motor and wiring: Check the motor connector and wiring harness for loose or burnt contacts. If the motor hums but does not turn even with a good belt and capacitor, the motor windings may be faulty and the motor should be replaced.
  • Test run: Reassemble panels, reconnect power, and run a short cycle. If E02 returns after these checks, the motor control circuit on the main PCB may be defective and professional service is recommended.
