Possible Causes
Blocked lint filter or condenser, Blocked airflow in heat exchanger, Faulty NTC temperature sensor on heater or air duct, Defective heater relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and allow it to cool completely before working near the heater or ducting.
- Clean lint filter: Remove the lint filter from the door opening and clean it thoroughly under running water. Dry it completely before refitting.
- Clean condenser / heat exchanger: On Grundig condenser and heat pump dryers, open the lower front flap and remove the condenser unit. Rinse it with warm water to remove lint and fluff from the fins. Allow to drain and dry before reinstalling.
- Check air paths: Inspect the air intake grilles and internal ducts (if accessible) for lint build-up. Vacuum gently without damaging sensors or wiring.
- Inspect NTC sensor: Locate the NTC temperature sensor on the heater housing or air duct. Disconnect its connector and measure resistance with a multimeter; compare to service values (typically around 5–20 kΩ at room temperature). Replace the NTC if readings are open, shorted, or far out of range.
- Reset and test: After cleaning and any sensor replacement, reconnect power and run a timed warm cycle with no load. If E03 reappears quickly, the heater control relay or main PCB may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.
