Possible Causes
Severely blocked lint filter or condenser, Failed circulation fan, Faulty high-limit thermostat, Heater relay stuck on
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and allow it to cool completely. Do not reset any safety device until the cause of overheating is found.
- Thorough cleaning: Remove and wash the lint filter. Clean the condenser/heat exchanger and vacuum all accessible air ducts and vents.
- Check fan operation: Access the fan motor and impeller. Ensure it spins freely and is not obstructed. Replace the fan motor if it does not run during a cycle.
- Inspect high-limit thermostat: Locate the high-limit thermostat on the heater housing. Test for continuity. If open and non-resettable, replace it. If it has a manual reset button, press it once after resolving airflow issues.
- Check heater relay: If the heater appears to stay on continuously, the relay on the PCB may be stuck closed. This requires PCB repair or replacement by a professional.
- Test cycle: After cleaning and any part replacement, run a test cycle and monitor temperature. If E14 returns, stop using the dryer until a technician inspects it.
