Exhaust Airflow Restriction / Overheat Protection
Haier dryer stops shortly after starting and displays E2

Possible Causes
Clogged lint filter, Blocked exhaust duct or wall vent, Crushed or kinked vent hose, Failed exhaust thermistor or high-limit thermostat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before inspecting internal components. Overheating can cause burns; allow the dryer to cool.
- Clean lint filter: Remove the lint filter and clean it thoroughly with your fingers or a soft brush. If it is coated with fabric softener residue, wash with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry completely.
- Inspect vent hose: Pull the dryer away from the wall. Check the flexible vent hose for kinks, crushing, or lint buildup. Detach it from the dryer and the wall and clear any lint with a vacuum or brush.
- Check wall and exterior vent: Go outside and verify that the exterior vent flap opens freely when air is pushed through. Remove any lint, nests, or obstructions.
- Test run without vent hose: Temporarily run the dryer for 3–5 minutes with the vent hose disconnected (in a well-ventilated area). If E2 does not return, the issue is in the house venting, not the dryer.
- Inspect temperature sensors: If airflow is good but E2 persists, unplug the dryer, remove the rear panel, and locate the exhaust thermistor and high-limit thermostat on the heater/exhaust duct. Check for loose wires or signs of overheating. Use a multimeter to verify proper resistance (refer to service manual). Replace the faulty sensor or thermostat if out of spec.
