Possible Causes
Loose harness between user interface and main PCB, Corroded control board connectors, Failed main control board, Failed user interface board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the control panel or accessing electronic boards.
- Power reset: Turn off the circuit breaker or unplug the dryer for 10 minutes to discharge the electronics. Restore power and test. If E6 reappears, continue.
- Access control panel: Remove the top cover and control panel screws to access the user interface (UI) board and main control board (locations vary by model).
- Inspect connectors: Carefully unplug and replug the ribbon cables and harness connectors between the UI and main board. Look for bent pins, corrosion, or burnt spots.
- Check for moisture or contamination: Ensure there is no water, detergent residue, or lint on the boards. Gently clean with dry compressed air if needed.
- Visual inspection of boards: Look for burnt components, cracked solder joints, or bulging capacitors. If found, the affected board should be replaced.
- Board replacement: If reseating connectors does not resolve E6, replace the main control board first (most common), then the UI board if necessary. Label all connectors before removal to ensure correct reassembly.
