Possible Causes
Blocked lint filter or condenser (heat pump models), Restricted airflow in exhaust duct, Failed cooling fan (heat pump/condensing models), Stuck relay on main control board causing overheating
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the dryer to cool completely before working on it.
- Clean all filters: Remove and clean the lint filter. On condenser or heat pump Haier dryers, also remove and rinse the condenser filter and any additional air intake filters.
- Check airflow path: Inspect the exhaust duct and vent hood for obstructions. Clean out lint and ensure the vent flap moves freely.
- Inspect internal airflow components: On heat pump/condensing models, remove the lower front panel to access the condenser and internal fan. Clean lint from the condenser fins and verify the fan spins freely.
- Test cooling fan: With the dryer unplugged, spin the fan by hand. If stiff or noisy, replace the fan motor. If it spins freely, test for voltage at the fan during operation (requires live testing by a qualified person).
- Reset and test: After cleaning and verifying airflow, reconnect power and run a timed dry cycle. If E8 returns quickly, a thermostat, sensor, or control board may be faulty and should be tested and replaced as needed.
