Possible Causes
Partially blocked exhaust vent, Lint buildup in internal ducts, Clogged lint filter or condenser (heat pump models), Weak heating element
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing panels or ducts.
- Clean lint filter thoroughly: Remove all lint and wash the filter with warm soapy water if coated with residue. Dry fully.
- Inspect and clean vent hose: Disconnect the vent hose from the dryer and wall. Remove lint with a brush or vacuum. Straighten any kinks.
- Check exterior vent: Ensure the outside vent flap opens fully and is not blocked by lint, nests, or debris.
- Internal duct cleaning: Remove the rear panel and carefully vacuum lint from the blower housing and internal ducts.
- Test drying with vent disconnected: Run a short cycle with the vent hose off (in a ventilated area). If drying improves, the house venting needs professional cleaning.
