Possible Causes
Shorted heating element to chassis, Damaged power cord, Moisture in wiring or motor, Faulty line filter
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker. Unplug the dryer and do not use it until the fault is found.
- Inspect power cord: Check for cuts, burns, or crushed sections. Replace if damaged.
- Check heater for earth fault: With the dryer unplugged, disconnect heater wires and measure resistance between heater terminals and chassis. Any continuity indicates a shorted heater that must be replaced.
- Inspect internal wiring: Look for burnt or pinched wires, especially where the harness passes through metal openings.
If no obvious fault is found, a technician should perform insulation resistance tests on the motor and wiring.
