Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing the top or side panels. Beware of sharp metal edges.
- Check drum movement: With the dryer unplugged and door open, try to rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly with moderate resistance. If it is very stiff or jammed, suspect bearings or rollers.
- Inspect the belt: Remove the top cover and possibly the side panel to view the belt around the drum and motor pulley. If the belt is broken, frayed, or off the pulley, replace it with the correct Hansa belt.
- Check drum rollers and idler pulley: Inspect the rear/front drum support rollers and idler pulley for flat spots, seized bearings, or excessive play. Replace worn components.
- Test motor capacitor: Locate the start/run capacitor near the motor. Discharge it safely, then test capacitance with a meter. Replace if out of tolerance or visibly swollen.
If the belt and mechanical parts are fine but the motor hums and trips, the motor windings may be failing and the complete motor assembly should be replaced.
