How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Immediately stop the dryer, unplug it, and do not continue using it until the cause is found. Have a fire extinguisher nearby.

  • Inspect lint and heater area: Remove rear panel and check for heavy lint accumulation on or near the heater housing. Vacuum carefully.
  • Look for burnt fabric: Check inside the drum and around the heater inlet for pieces of fabric that may have contacted hot surfaces.
  • Clean exhaust system: Ensure all ducts and vents are clear to prevent overheating.
  • Check motor: Smell near the motor area; if the odor is strongest there and the motor is very hot or noisy, it may be failing and should be replaced.
