Possible Causes
Failed exhaust NTC sensor, Failed drum inlet NTC sensor, Shorted or open sensor wiring harness, Corroded sensor connector on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal components.
- Locate the NTC sensor(s): On Hisense dryers, NTCs are typically mounted on the heater housing or in the exhaust duct. Refer to the model's layout to identify the correct sensor.
- Inspect wiring: Check the sensor harness for pinched, cut, or burnt wires. Reseat the connector at both the sensor and the main control board.
- Test the NTC: Remove the sensor connector and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to the service manual chart (commonly 5–20 kΩ at 25°C). Infinite or near-zero resistance indicates a faulty sensor.
- Check for lint buildup: Heavy lint on the sensor or in the duct can cause incorrect readings. Gently clean the sensor surface and surrounding area.
- Replace the NTC sensor if readings are out of range. Clear the error by unplugging for 5 minutes, then test a cycle. If E04 returns with a new sensor and good wiring, the main PCB may be misreading the sensor and should be evaluated by a technician.
