Possible Causes

Faulty motor tachometer sensor, Loose tachometer connector, Damaged motor harness, Main PCB speed sensing circuit fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the motor area.

  • Observe drum rotation: If the drum speed is erratic or stalls, suspect a tachometer or motor issue.
  • Access motor: Remove the rear or side panel to reach the drive motor. Locate the tachometer sensor (often a small module on the motor shaft or integrated into the motor).
  • Check connections: Ensure the tachometer plug is firmly connected and wires are intact.
  • Test tachometer: Using a multimeter, check for appropriate resistance or pulse output while rotating the motor shaft by hand (refer to service data). Replace the motor or tachometer assembly if defective.
  • If E18 persists with a good motor and wiring, the main PCB may not be reading the signal correctly and should be replaced by a technician.
