Possible Causes
Faulty motor start capacitor, Stiff drum or motor bearings, Faulty motor winding, Weak mains supply
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before accessing internal components.
- Check drum movement: Rotate the drum by hand. If very stiff, investigate for seized bearings or obstructions.
- Test start capacitor: Locate the motor capacitor (usually a cylindrical component near the motor). If the drum can be started by hand and then continues to run, the capacitor is likely faulty. Replace with the exact µF and voltage rating.
- Inspect motor: If a new capacitor does not fix the issue, the motor windings may be faulty and the motor should be replaced.
