Possible Causes

Blocked condensate pump, Blocked pump filter or sump, Faulty condensate pump motor, Blocked or kinked drain hose to tank or external drain

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer before accessing the base, pump, or internal hoses. Water may spill; have towels ready.

  • Check for external drain kit: If your Hoover dryer is connected to a drain hose instead of using the tank, ensure the hose is not kinked, crushed, or blocked at the sink or standpipe.
  • Access the pump area: On many Hoover condenser/heat pump dryers, the pump is located in the base. Remove the rear lower panel or front kick panel (model dependent) to access the pump housing.
  • Clean the pump and sump: Remove visible lint, hair, and debris from the pump area and sump tray. If there is a removable filter, take it out and rinse thoroughly.
  • Check pump impeller: Gently spin the pump impeller with a screwdriver. It should turn freely. If jammed or very stiff, the pump may need replacement.
  • Test pump operation: With the dryer reassembled but still accessible, briefly power on and start a cycle while observing (keep clear of moving parts). Listen for the pump running. If it does not run and power is present at the pump terminals (requires multimeter and electrical competence), replace the pump.
  • Call a technician if unsure: If E03 persists after cleaning and hose checks, a professional should test the pump circuit and control board.
