Possible Causes
Failed compressor start relay, Faulty compressor motor, Faulty inverter board (if fitted), Loose wiring to compressor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer. The compressor and inverter operate at mains or higher voltages; do not work live.
- Check wiring: Access the compressor compartment and inspect the wiring harness and connectors to the compressor and any inverter module. Reseat and secure all connections.
- Listen for compressor: During a cycle (technician only), listen for compressor start attempts. Clicking without running suggests a start device or compressor fault.
- Component replacement: Replace a visibly burnt or failed start relay or inverter board with the correct Hotpoint-Ariston part.
- Technician-only compressor test: If the compressor is suspected faulty, a refrigeration technician must test and replace it. This is not a DIY repair.
