Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer from the mains supply before removing any panels. Do not work live on the appliance.
Steps to check:
- Power reset: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect and try to start a cycle. Sometimes the control locks up after a surge.
- Check outlet and cord: Verify the wall socket has correct voltage and the dryer plug and cord are not burnt or loose.
- Inspect control board: Remove the top cover (usually rear screws, slide back and lift). Locate the main PCB (often in a plastic housing). Look for burnt spots, damaged tracks, or a melted relay.
- Check harness connections: Reseat all multi‑pin connectors to the PCB, especially the motor and power input connectors. Look for corrosion or heat damage.
- Test continuity: With a multimeter (and power disconnected), check for continuity across the main relay contacts when the relay is manually actuated (if accessible). If the relay is open or the board is visibly damaged, replacement is required.
When to stop: If you see burnt components or are not comfortable testing live circuits, stop and arrange a qualified technician to replace the main control board.
