Possible Causes
Open circuit NTC sensor on heater housing, Shorted NTC sensor, Damaged wiring harness to NTC, Faulty main control board temperature input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power before accessing internal components.
Steps to check:
- Access NTC sensor: On many Hotpoint vented and condenser dryers, the NTC is mounted on or near the heater housing at the rear. Remove the rear panel to locate it (small probe with two wires).
- Inspect wiring: Check the connector and wires for burning, breaks, or loose fit. Reseat the connector.
- Test NTC resistance: With a multimeter set to kΩ, measure across the NTC terminals at room temperature. Typical values are 5–20 kΩ (refer to service data if available). An open circuit or 0 Ω indicates a faulty sensor.
- Check for lint build‑up: Heavy lint on the heater housing can cause overheating and sensor damage. Carefully vacuum lint away.
- Replace NTC if faulty: Remove the fixing screw or clip, swap the sensor, and reconnect wiring.
If the NTC tests good but F03 persists, the fault may be on the control board and should be checked by a technician.
