Possible Causes
Open circuit heater element, Burnt heater terminals, Broken wiring to heater, Faulty heater relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power before accessing the rear panel or heater assembly.
Steps to check:
- Confirm no heat: Run the dryer on a high heat program for 5–10 minutes. Carefully feel the air at the exhaust or inside the drum (do not touch metal parts). If still cold, proceed.
- Access heater: Remove the rear panel to expose the heater housing. Visually inspect the heater terminals and wiring for burning or discolouration.
- Test heater resistance: Disconnect the heater connectors and measure resistance across the heater terminals. A typical reading is 20–60 Ω. An open circuit indicates a failed element.
- Check wiring and connectors: Look for loose spade terminals, melted connectors, or broken wires. Repair or replace as needed.
- Inspect control board relay: If the heater tests good, the issue may be a faulty heater relay on the PCB. Look for burnt relay contacts or tracks; board replacement is usually required.
