Possible Causes

Corrupted EEPROM on main control board, Incorrect software version loaded, Power surge causing memory error, Faulty main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing covers.

Steps to check:

  • Power reset: Disconnect power for at least 15 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge and the control to fully reset. Reconnect and test.
  • Check supply stability: Ensure the dryer is connected directly to a stable mains outlet (no loose adapters or overloaded extension leads).
  • Inspect PCB: Remove the top cover and inspect the main control board for obvious damage (burnt components, corrosion).
  • Service mode reset (if available): Some Hotpoint models allow a factory reset via a button sequence (refer to service documentation). Perform this if you have the correct procedure.

If F09 persists, the main control board usually needs to be replaced or reprogrammed by an authorised service centre.
