Possible Causes
Failed display PCB, Failed main control PCB, Broken ribbon cable, Incorrectly seated connectors after previous repair
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before working on the control area.
Steps to check:
- Check for life: Confirm whether any LEDs or backlights come on when the dryer is powered. Total darkness often points to a failed display board or no supply from main PCB.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the control fascia and check the flat ribbon cable for kinks, tears, or burn marks. Replace if damaged.
- Reseat connectors: Firmly reconnect the ribbon at both ends.
- Visual inspection: Look for burnt or cracked components on the display PCB. If present, replace the display board.
If the display board appears fine and F12 persists, the main control board may not be supplying or reading the display correctly and may need replacement.
