Dryer display shows time remaining but the drum and motor do not run; only a faint click is heard

Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Do not repeatedly try to start a stalled motor; it can overheat.

• Check drum movement: Rotate the drum by hand. If stiff, investigate drum bearings, rollers, and belt for binding.
• Inspect belt: Ensure the belt is intact and correctly tensioned by the idler pulley.
• Test motor capacitor: If your Ikea dryer uses a start capacitor, access it near the motor and test with a capacitance meter. Replace if out of specification.

If the motor hums but will not start even with a good capacitor and free drum, the motor or control board relay may be defective and require replacement.
