Possible Causes
Worn or snapped drive belt, Seized idler pulley, Misaligned drum support rollers, Overloaded drum causing belt slip
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Sharp edges inside the cabinet can cause cuts; wear gloves.
- Check drum rotation: Open the door and try to spin the drum by hand. If it spins very freely with little resistance, the belt may be broken.
- Access the belt: Remove the top panel and front panel to view the belt around the drum. If the belt is broken or off the pulleys, it must be replaced.
- Inspect pulleys and rollers: Check the idler pulley and drum support rollers for smooth rotation. Replace any that are noisy, seized, or wobbling.
- Install new belt: Fit the new belt around the drum with the ribbed side against the drum. Route it around the motor pulley and idler pulley according to the routing diagram (often inside the cabinet or in the service manual).
After reassembly, rotate the drum by hand to ensure the belt is seated, then reconnect power and test.
