Possible Causes

Defective door switch, Misaligned door latch, Broken door catch, Wiring issue between door switch and main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer or switch off the circuit breaker before any work. Do not bypass safety switches for normal use.

This code is common on Ikea condenser and heat pump dryers built by Whirlpool/Electrolux when the door status is not detected.

  • Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Make sure no laundry is trapped in the door seal and that the latch clicks into place.
  • Inspect the door latch and strike: Look at the plastic/metal strike on the door and the latch on the cabinet. If cracked, loose, or bent, the switch may not engage. Tighten screws and replace damaged parts.
  • Test the door switch: With power disconnected, remove the top panel (usually rear screws) and access the door switch wiring harness. Disconnect the switch and test continuity with a multimeter while pressing the switch. It should change from open to closed. If not, replace the door switch assembly.
  • Check wiring harness: Inspect the harness from the door switch to the main control board (often located at the top rear or side). Look for loose connectors, burnt pins, or damaged insulation. Reseat all connectors firmly.
  • Reset the control: After checks, reconnect power and hold the start/pause button for 5–10 seconds to clear the error. If E01 returns, the switch or control board may be faulty.

If the door switch tests good but the code persists, the main control board (electronic control unit) may need professional diagnosis and replacement.
