Possible Causes

Blocked lint filter, Blocked condenser or heat exchanger, Failed NTC temperature sensor, Blocked exhaust air path inside dryer

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before opening any panels. Surfaces inside may be hot; allow the dryer to cool.

  • Clean the lint filter: Remove the lint filter from the door opening. Clean off all lint with your fingers or a soft brush. Rinse with warm water and dry completely if it is heavily clogged with fabric softener residue.
  • Clean the condenser/heat exchanger (condenser and heat pump models): Open the lower front flap. Remove the condenser unit (if removable) and rinse it under lukewarm running water from the back side until water runs clear. Let it drain and dry before reinstalling.
  • Check air inlets and outlets: Inspect the front and rear air grilles for dust buildup. Vacuum gently. On vented Ikea dryers, ensure the exhaust duct is not kinked, crushed, or blocked and that the outside vent flap opens freely.
  • Inspect the NTC sensor: Access the front or rear of the drum (depending on model). The NTC (temperature sensor) is usually clipped to the heater housing or air duct. Check for broken wires or loose connectors. Reseat the plug on the sensor and on the control board.
  • Test the NTC: With a multimeter, measure resistance at room temperature; typical values are 5–20 kΩ depending on model. If it reads open or shorted, replace the NTC sensor.

After cleaning and checks, reconnect power and run a timed warm program. If E02 reappears quickly, the NTC or main control board may require replacement.
