Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing any panels or accessing internal wiring.
- Clean the moisture sensor bars: Inside the drum, near the lint filter opening, locate two metal strips (sensor bars). Wipe them thoroughly with a cloth dampened with white vinegar or rubbing alcohol to remove fabric softener and detergent film. Do not use abrasive pads.
- Check for physical damage: Inspect the bars for cracks, heavy corrosion, or looseness. Tighten mounting screws if loose.
- Inspect wiring: Access the area behind the sensor bars (usually by removing the front panel or lower front cover). Ensure the wires are firmly attached to the sensor terminals and the harness connector to the main control board is secure.
- Run a test cycle: Reconnect power and run a timed (not automatic) cycle. If the dryer runs normally on timed but fails on automatic with E03, the moisture sensing circuit or sensor bars are likely faulty.
If cleaning and wiring checks do not resolve the issue, replace the moisture sensor assembly. If the problem persists, the main control board may need replacement.
