Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer from the mains and turn off the circuit breaker before any work. Capacitors on the control board can retain charge.
Step-by-step checks:
- Power reset: Disconnect power for 10–15 minutes, then reconnect and try to start a cycle. If F01 returns immediately, continue below.
- Inspect wiring to motor: Remove the top cover (usually rear screws) and side panel as needed. Trace the harness from the main PCB to the drive motor. Look for burnt connectors, melted insulation, or pinched wires. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Check motor for short: Disconnect the motor plug. Using a multimeter on resistance, measure between motor terminals and between each terminal and the motor frame. Any reading close to 0 Ω to frame indicates a shorted motor that must be replaced.
- Inspect control board: Remove the control panel/PCB housing. Look for burnt spots, cracked solder joints, or a visibly damaged triac (often labeled near the motor connector). If the triac or board is burnt, the PCB should be replaced as a complete assembly.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing the faulty part (motor or PCB), reassemble panels, restore power, and run a timed dry cycle to confirm normal operation.
When to call a technician: If you are not comfortable testing live circuits or replacing the PCB, contact an authorized Indesit service technician.
