Possible Causes

Seized drum bearings, jammed drive belt or foreign object, faulty motor tachometer coil, worn drive motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the dryer from mains power before opening any panels.

Mechanical checks:

  • Check drum rotation by hand: Open the door and try to rotate the drum. It should turn smoothly with moderate resistance. If it is very stiff or locked, suspect seized bearings or an obstruction.
  • Inspect belt and pulley: Remove the top and rear panel. Check that the drive belt is intact, correctly seated on the drum and motor pulley, and not wrapped around a jammed idler pulley. Remove any foreign objects (e.g., coins, screws) caught between drum and cabinet.
  • Check motor tachometer: On many Indesit dryers, the motor has a small tachometer coil at the rear. Disconnect the tachometer plug and measure resistance; an open circuit (infinite resistance) indicates a faulty tachometer and the motor assembly should be replaced.
  • Spin motor shaft: With belt removed, spin the motor pulley by hand. It should turn freely without grinding. If stiff or noisy, replace the motor.

Reassembly and test: Refit belt and panels, restore power, and run a short cycle. If F02 persists after mechanical issues are resolved, the control board may also need inspection.
