Indesit dryer intermittently heats or overheats, F08 error displayed

Safety first: Disconnect power and let the dryer cool. Overheating can cause burns.

Inspection steps:

• Check lint and airflow: Clean the lint filter, condenser (if fitted), and exhaust duct. Poor airflow can cause overheating and trigger F08.
• Test high-limit thermostat: Locate the high-limit thermostat on the heater housing. Check for continuity at room temperature. Replace if open or if it shows signs of heat damage.
• Inspect heater element: Look for hotspots, breaks, or coils touching the metal casing. Replace the element if damaged.
• Check wiring and connectors: Ensure all heater and thermostat connectors are tight and free of burning.

Control board: If mechanical and thermal components are fine, the heater relay on the PCB may be malfunctioning. Replacement of the main control board is recommended by a professional.
