Inspection and cleaning:
- Clean lint filter and ducts: Remove all lint from the filter, filter housing, and exhaust duct. For condenser models, clean the condenser and sump thoroughly.
- Check for scorched wiring: Remove the rear panel and inspect wiring around the heater, motor, and terminal block for signs of burning or melting. Replace any damaged wiring and connectors.
- Inspect motor: Smell near the motor area. If the motor casing is discoloured or has a strong burnt odour, the motor may be failing and should be replaced.
