Dryer makes a loud squealing or screeching noise while running.

Safety first: Unplug the dryer before disassembly. Wear gloves to protect against sharp edges.

• Isolate the noise: Run the dryer briefly and listen to determine if the noise comes from the front, rear, or bottom. Then unplug before opening.
• Inspect drum rollers: Remove the front panel and drum to access the rear rollers. Spin each roller by hand; replace any that squeal, wobble, or feel rough.
• Check the idler pulley: Spin the idler pulley; if it squeaks or feels stiff, replace it.
• Examine drum glides: At the front bulkhead, inspect the drum glides or slides. Replace if worn through or missing.
• Install a maintenance kit: For older JennAir dryers, consider installing a drum support maintenance kit that includes rollers, idler, and belt to restore quiet operation.
