Possible Causes
Broken drive belt, Seized drum roller or idler pulley, Failed drive motor, Foreign object jammed in blower wheel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before opening the cabinet. Internal edges can be sharp; wear gloves.
- Check drum movement: Open the door and try to rotate the drum by hand. If it spins freely, the belt may be broken. If it is hard to turn, a roller, idler, or blower may be seized.
- Inspect the belt: Remove the front panel or lower access panel. Look for a loose or broken belt around the drum and motor pulley. Replace the belt if broken or badly worn.
- Examine rollers and idler pulley: Spin each drum roller and the idler pulley by hand. Replace any that are noisy, wobbly, or seized.
- Check the blower wheel: Inspect the blower for socks, lint, or debris that could jam it. Clear obstructions.
- Test the motor: With the belt removed, spin the motor shaft by hand; it should turn freely. If the motor only hums when powered and will not start, replace the drive motor.
