Possible Causes
Open heating element, Blown high-limit thermostat, Open thermal cutoff fuse, Failed heater relay on main control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and verify the drum and heater area are cool before servicing. For electric dryers, also switch off the breaker.
- Confirm power supply: Ensure the dryer has full 240V supply (see L2 error guidance). A missing leg can cause no heat.
- Access the heater assembly: Remove the rear panel to reach the heating element housing and thermostats.
- Test the heating element: Disconnect the element leads and measure resistance across the terminals. An open reading indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
- Check thermal cutoff and high-limit thermostat: With the dryer unplugged, test each thermostat and cutoff for continuity. Any open device should be replaced as a set with its mate (e.g., thermal cutoff kit).
- Inspect wiring and connectors: Look for burned or loose terminals at the heater and thermostats. Repair or replace as needed.
- Replace failed parts: Install a new heating element and/or thermostat kit, reassemble the rear panel, restore power, and run a test cycle to verify heating.
