Possible Causes
Failed motor relay on control board, Open motor run winding, Faulty belt switch, Incorrect wiring after repair
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before testing internal components.
- Check belt switch (if equipped): Ensure the drive belt is intact and properly tensioned over the idler. Test the belt switch for continuity when the belt is tight; replace if open.
- Inspect motor connections: Verify all motor wires are firmly connected and not burned.
- Test motor windings: With the dryer unplugged, measure resistance across the motor run winding terminals. An open reading indicates a failed motor.
- Check motor relay: On electronic models, the control board uses a relay to keep the motor running. If the relay contacts are burned or the coil is open, the board must be replaced.
